Last November we
told you that R2 Entertainment would be bringing
Donny & Marie to DVD in April 2006. Obviously that was last month, and the release didn't happen on that schedule. But last week one of our readers (thanks to Jonathan for the tip-off!) let us know that Donny.com, which is Donny Osmond's official website, has a block in the upper right corner of the main page that says it will be coming out in
August 2006.
We've since then checked in with R2 directly, and tried to get a specific date for that August release. However, they tell us that the timeframe is still actually up in the air and hasn't been finalized yet. If it's not August, it will be soon afterward, though. In the meantime, know that Donny had kept all of the multi-track audio master tapes from the show, so this DVD release will be in 5.1 surround sound (which is pretty cool for a 70's variety show). Also, fans can expect a single Christmas show DVD in October. So stay tuned for details about that, plus a specific street date for the multi-disc set just as soon as we get one!
