At the end of this past October we reported
that an insert that accompanied the first season DVD set told fans to expect The Donna Reed Show - The Complete 2nd Season
"in stores in time for Mother's Day 2009." That falls on the 10th of May, for those of you without a calendar handy. So when will the DVDs arrive?
While the studio hasn't made a formal announcement to the press yet, they've apparently begun soliciting the release to retailers. Several online retail listings have popped us in the past few days, including one at one of our affiliates, DVDEmpire
. They show that this 4-disc set, running 960 minutes (plus the extras we mentioned in our last report, at the above link), will arrive on May 5th
The studio provided at the listing is called Virgil Films And Entertainment, which is the new name for what was formerly Arts Alliance America. The change came last month, when when our old friend Joe Amodei - who ran the company as president back when it was called Hart Sharp Video and through the Arts Alliance years - became 100% owner of the company, according to the story at Variety
. Congrats to Joe, and best wishes! The Donna Reed Show - The Complete 2nd Season
will be among the first releases under the new company name, and DVDEmpire shows a cost of $39.95 list price. But you can order it at a discount, if you lock in your copy early! Stay tuned for package art.
