BBCAmerica has announced the next two DVD releases of the classic
Doctor Who program, which will follow the September releases of
Mind Robber and
Horror of Fang Rock. The next two releases are:
- Story #057: The Claws Of Axos (starring Jon Pertwee as the 3rd Doctor)
A mysterious object approaches Earth, alerting the Third Doctor and UNIT that they face another possible threat from outer space. Are the gold-skinned aliens who claim to bring great gifts to humanity as peaceful and benevolent as they first appear? If so, why is the Doctor's archenemy, the Master, on board their spaceship?
- Story #105: City Of Death (starring Tom Baker as the 4th Doctor)
The Fourth Doctor and Romana's plan for a peaceful holiday in Paris soon goes wrong. Cracks are beginning to appear in the fabric of time, indicating that dangerous time experiments are under way. Even the well-beaten path to the Louvre leads the Doctor deeper into mystery, much of which revolves around Count Scarlioni, a sinister figure who has six Mona Lisa paintings stashed in his cellar - and they're all originals!
We can't wait! Oh, it's worth noting that the
City of Death has NOT been announced in the U.K. yet, and isn't even one of the DVD titles listed at
the Restoration Team's site. But we'll see it here in the USA this Fall, which is the only timeframe that BBCAmerica's announcement gives. But the great folks over at
Gallifrey One are posting a
November 1st street date. Stay tuned, and we'll let you know more just as soon as distributor Warner Home Video supplies the details and the cover art.

Readers "Martin" and "David Simons" have e-mailed in to correct us:
City of Death HAS been announced in the U.K., although it will be released there a week later than it will be in North America. It still is not a Restoration Team title, and I could not find it listed at the U.K. branch of Amazon, but it IS coming and can be found listed at other U.K. e-tailer sites like Play.com, as well as being mentioned
at the BBC site. TVShowsOnDVD regrets the error.
