BBCAmerica has communicated that the next two Doctor Who titles, that will follow The Green Death and The Visitation (which are the March 1st releases), are The Leisure Hive and Ghost Light. The exact date has not been disclosed yet, but it will be in Spring 2005, possibly in May or early June.
We don't have cover art yet, but we do have the early details about these two releases, including planned extras. Please remember, though, that the supplements we show may not be the final list which appear on the DVDs; the bonus material is still subject to change. But here's what we know so far:
Doctor Who- Story #110: The Leisure Hive
The 4th Doctor, Tom Baker, decides to forego Brighton beach and take a much- needed holiday on the pleasure planet of Argolis which now hosts the Leisure Hive - an ideal retreat for tourists from all over the cosmos. But a series of suspicious accidents leads the Doctor to discover that the Hive holds dark secrets.
- Original Mono soundtrack, Isolated Mono music track, or optional Dolby Digital 5.1 mix
- Commentary with Lalla Ward ("Romana"), Director Lovett Bickford and Script Editor Christopher H. Bidmead
- Featurette: "A New Beginning" (30 minutes), looking at the changes that John Nathan-Turner brought to the series, with particular reference to "The Leisure Hive". It includes interviews with the late John Nathan-Turner (courtesy of Bill Baggs), Tom Baker, Lovett Bickford, Christopher H. Bidmead, Sid Sutton, composer Peter Howell, John 'K9' Leeson, assistant floor-manager Val McCrimmon and costume designer June Hudson.
- Featurette: "From Avalon to Argolis" (14 minutes), a look at the writing and script-editing side of the story with writer David Fisher, Christopher H. Bidmead and contributions from John Nathan-Turner.
- Featurette: "Synthesizing Starfields" (9 minutes), a look at the creation of the new title sequence.
- Featurette: "Leisure Wear" (7 minutes), June Hudson talking in depth about the costume designs for "The Leisure Hive" and her re-design of the main character's costumes for this season.
- Footage: From the archives of children's magazine programme Blue Peter comes a 4-minute look around the Longleat Doctor Who Exhibition during its between-seasons Spring-clean, including the first ever on-screen interview with incoming producer John Nathan-Turner.
- Picture Gallery, Production Note Subtitle Commentary, and Easter Eggs
Doctor Who - Story #157: Ghost Light
The 7th Doctor, Sylvestor McCoy, arrives at a sinister mansion in the rural hamlet of Perivale. Horrors old and new await the Doctor amongst the peculiar residents.
- 5.1 surround remix
- 20-minutes of extended and deleted scenes
- Commentary with Sophie Aldred ("Ace"), Composer/Restoration Team member Mark Ayres, Writer Marc Platt and Script Editor Andrew Cartmel
- Featurette: "Light in Dark Places" (38 Minutes), featuring new interviews with Sylvester McCoy, Sophie Aldred, Sharon Duce, Ian Hogg, Michael Cochrane, Katharine Schlesinger, Andrew Cartmel and Mark Ayres.
- Featurette: "Shooting Ghosts" (20 minutes), a rare behind-the-scenes look at the studio process.
- "Writer's Question Time" (12 minutes): a question and answer session with Marc Platt, recorded at the PanoptiCon.
- Picture Gallery, Production Note Subtitle Commentary, and Easter Eggs
Again, take those extras with a grain of salt until the official announcement from Region 1 distributor Warner Home Video. Once that arrives, we'll have final details, cover art, pricing, and an exact date. Please stay tuned!
