In the middle of last week we reported
that "Doctor Who - Tom Baker: Complete 1st Season
" on Blu-ray Disc was up for pre-order at Amazon.com, showing a June 26th release date and a long list of bonus material. At the time, we passed on that BBC Home Entertainment hadn't confirmed the item yet, nor provided any package art.
Today we've gotten official info from the BBC about the item's North American release, confirming that the item is officially called "Doctor Who - Tom Baker: Season 1
" here in the States. That it IS a Blu-ray release coming on 6 discs. And that its finalized street date is June 19th
, a week earlier than previously shown! Amazon's pre-order listing (see the button link below) has already been updated with the new date.
The studio has confirmed the list of story arcs from Tom Baker's first season as the 4th Doctor as being included on this set ("Robot," "Ark in Space," "The Sontaran Experiment," "Genesis of the Daleks," and "Revenge of the Cybermen"). They've also verified the exact list of extras provided by Amazon, pointing out that the "Production archive material and scripts from the BBC Archives" is being provided by way of PDF files found on the discs (as we've seen on previous classic Doctor Who
BBC Home Entertainment has provided the below package art for their Blu-ray release of Doctor Who - Tom Baker: Season 1
