Did everybody catch the Christmas and New Year
Doctor Who specials, "The End of Time, Parts 1 & 2"? That final David Tennant story arc co-starred the incredible Bernard Cribbins (who turned 81 last week...and who many forget had previously ridden along in the TARDIS with Peter Cushing's "Dr. Who," for the 1966 theatrical adaption of
Daleks' Invasion Earth: 2150 A.D.). These two new holiday specials climaxed with the 10th Doctor's well-publicized regeneration into Matt Smith's 11th Doctor, and caps a group of specials this past year which included "The Next Doctor," "Planet of the Dead" and "The Waters of Mars."
We've
reported that the BBC and distributor Warner Home Video are planning a
February 2nd release of all of these, grouped together on either DVD and Blu-ray Disc, of
Doctor Who - The Complete Specials (note that individual releases will be available that same day, in both formats, of
The Waters of Mars and
The End of Time, Parts 1 & 2). And early temp art has been shown for the 5-disc
The Complete Specials release...but now we've got a look at the finalized artwork for you!
Just a few hours ago BBC America
posted a tweet on Twitter saying "
Here's a first look at the box art for Doctor Who: The Complete Specials Blu-ray & DVD box sets available February 2." The tweet contained a link to
a TwitPic.com post with a look at the final packaging arrangement. We've got a peek at that for you below. Our thanks to reader "Justin" for the heads-up about this, before the BBC or Warner made it available to press or retailers:
