A week ago we brought you BBC/Warner's
announcement for the 3 classic
Doctor Who titles that they plan to release on
September 7th. Two of these DVDs are the 2 "Kamelion" stories (the short-lived shape-changing android companion of Peter Davison's 5th Doctor). The titles are "
Doctor Who - Story #129: The King's Demons" and "
Doctor Who - Story #135: Planet of Fire." On both packages, Davison's surname was spelled wrong, with an extra "d" ("Davidson," an unfortunately all-too-common error for the actor).
Before the week was over, we
updated you with corrected artwork for
The King's Demons (seen again at bottom), and word that corrected packaging would take just a tad longer for
Planet of Fire because it was initially announced as a single-disc title for North America, but fans protested that the U.K. release was a 2-DVD set, so the BBC checked into it and found out that it should be a two-disc release for the USA and Canada as well. The box art revision needed just enough extra time to show that it would be a 2-DVD set, and now we've got that fixed packaging for you immediately below.
At the time we mentioned the possibility that one of the announced featurettes would be removed due to rights issues, and/or the possibility that the list price of
Planet of Fire might go up due to there being two DVDs instead of one. At the time of this writing, the provided list of bonus material showing at the BBC America Online Shop still is identical to the original announcement, and the price there and at Warner's press site still shows $24.98 SRP as the cost (as does Amazon's pre-order listing, found at the button link below). So nothing's come through yet on changes to either of those. If we find out differently, though, we'll be sure to pass it along!
