BBC Video and Warner Home Video have announced that on
June 3rd they are releasing a massive package they list as the
Doctor Who - Mega Set Vol. 1. Their official announcement info at Warner's password-protected press site says this is a 27-disc collection of existing titles, shrink-wrapped together into one giant giftset. The price shown is $599.70 SRP, and Amazon
lists it for pre-order at $419.99.
No other details are available at either source, nor any pictures of the bundle. We've inquired with our contacts at BBC Video for additional information, but they have not been able to provide it so far. The only piece of info they offered so far was that it is a 34-disc set, which of course contradicts the 27-disc count which their official announcement provides. We're trying to get clear on that point, and get the rest of the info for you. We've been told that it is *not* the same as a collection
previously offered through Amazon in Dec. 2005, but that's all we know so far. Also, it's worth pointing out that we've previously been informed that the term "MegaSet" is a trademark of A&E/New Video, so we're not entirely positive if the title is entirely correct as shown. Stay tuned and we'll update you on all of this, just as soon as we can!
