The
details described here (and duplicated on 2|entertain's "@classicdw" Twitter feed) say it best, so rather than try to interpret things we'll just quote the original:
2entertain's @classicdw Twitter feed is running an exciting opportunity for fans to feature on upcoming DVD commentaries! Simply record your question along with your name and where you're from (city / town only - no addresses!). And upload it to this group: http://me.lt/1o0L6
We'll pick our favourites and feature them in upcoming commentary recordings. The ACTUAL RECORDINGS! Hear your voice on a DVD. :-)
Entrants must by over 18. Please ensure you speak slowly and clearly.
The stories we're asking for your questions on are HAPPINESS PATROL, GREATEST SHOW IN THE GALAXY and DRAGONFIRE. Get thinking! Submissions close 22 April 2011. Good luck!
Now, the @classicdw (Classic
Doctor Who) Twitter feed is most often discussing Region 2 releases of DVDs for the U.K., so here in North America we cannot be sure at this time if the contest is also meant for commentaries which will show up on DVDs released in Region 1 (the USA and Canada). However, 2|entertain MUST know that their tweets are followed by people on this side of the pond, and their regular policy is to include the identical bonus content - including commentary tracks - on
Doctor Who DVD releases in all regions, as much as legally possible.
So at this time we're going on the assumption that the above-described contest is open to residents of the U.S. and Canada, and that selected questions will be heard (and answered) as commentary tracks on the eventual Region 1 DVD releases of
Doctor Who - Story #151: Dragonfire, Doctor Who - Story #153: The Happiness Patrol and
Doctor Who - Story #155: The Greatest Show in the Galaxy (all of which star Sylvester McCoy as the 7th Doctor). Whenever those releases take place. Stay tuned, of course, and we'll fill you in more as further developments occur! In the meantime, hurry up and get your entry in if you want to try...you've only got a week from today before the deadline!
UPDATE: We asked @dwclassic, via Twitter, whether this contest is open to R1 participants, and specifically "
will these commentaries be on USA/Canada DVDs, too?" The have just got back to us with
an answer (via tweet), and they simply say this:
Yes! This VAM contest is available to all. And will appear on all versions.
So...go for it!
