at the end of last month that the folks at BBC Home Entertainment were looking for fan help in choosing which cover art should be used for their upcoming May 27th
general retail release of Doctor Who - An Adventure in Space and Time
. Now the studio survey has ended, and they've picked a winner. You can go to the survey page
and see that the artwork chosen is the one which prominently features the TARDIS in flight at an angle.
However, if you see the finalized artwork we show below - as provided by the studio's North American distributor, Warner Home Video - you'll see that they've revised that artwork a bit. Gone are the four "floating heads" at the corners, including that of David Bradley (Game of Thrones, Harry Potter
films) as William Hartnell. Instead they've bracketed the TARDIS with a background composed of the sort of special effects viewers saw in the program's opening title sequence during the early years. The box also confirms that this is a 3-disc set. Here's what you'll get on each disc:
- An Adventure in Space and Time on Blu-ray disc
- An Adventure in Space and Time on DVD
- Doctor Who - Story #001: An Unearthly Child on DVD
In addition to the above, BBC/Warner has also announced another budget-priced 2-disc set with the adventures of the 10th Doctor. The Time Lord's new companion is Martha Jones in Doctor Who - The 3rd Series, Part 1
on DVD, a $19.96 SRP title with "The Runaway Bride" (the 2006 Christmas Special which introduces future companion Donna Noble), "Smith and Jones," "The Shakespeare Code," "Gridlock," "Daleks in Manhattan," "Evolution of the Daleks" and "The Lazarus Experiment." This will be available on June 10th
, less than a month after The 2nd Series, Part 2
. The new two-DVD set will include new bonus material: "Doctor Who: A New Dimension - The Making of Doctor Who: Series 3, Part 1
"; cover art is below, and the Amazon button link leads to both titles discussed in today's story.
