Courteney Cox stars as Lucy Spiller, the hard-driving Editor-in-Chief of tabloid "Dirt" and "Now" magazines. Lucy has a maniacal dedication to finding the truth, for reasons even she has yet to fathom. With the help of Don Konkey (Ian Hart), a schizophrenic paparazzo blessed with a genius for getting the money shot, Lucy exposes the hidden truth behind celebrity lives - and also determines their fate.
Courteney Cox (
Friends), Ian Hart ("Prof. Quirrell" from
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone), Josh Stewart (
Third Watch), Laura Allen (
The 4400), Jeffrey Nordling (
Once and Again), and Alexandra Breckenridge (
Family Guy) star in FX Networks'
Dirt. Cox and her husband David Arquette are among the Executive Producers of
Dirt.
Mariette Hartley, a frequent long-time television guest star including memorable appearances in
Star Trek, M*A*S*H and
The Rockford Files, has a recurring role as "Dorothy Spiller" in 3 of the first season's 13 episodes. Paul Reubens (
Pee-wee's Playhouse) also appears in three episodes. Cox's former
Friends co-star Jennifer Aniston appears in the season finale as a rival magazine editor, and the rumor is that she's out for Lucy Spiller's job. And you've probably heard
all about the Cox/Aniston scene, which was talked about in the news. Also look for guests Grant Show (
Melrose Place), Timothy Bottoms (
Land of the Lost, That's My Bush!) and Christopher Knight (
The Brady Bunch) playing himself.
The series, which has been renewed for a second season, is produced by Touchstone Pictures, so Disney/Buena Vista has the DVD rights. And we've heard from multiple sources that the
Dirt - Season 1 is rumored to be coming on
Dec. 11th (the same day as the third season DVDs of
Lost). How accurate is that? Stay tuned, because our inside sources tell us that the folks at Disney will officially announce it at the end of this week!
