Dinner for Five - Dinner Is Served!

Jon Favreau, known for films like Swingers, Made, and the current release Elf, also is behind the IFC series Dinner For Five. Each episode features Favreau sitting down with four celebrity friends, where they eat and shoot the breeze about Hollywood, the business, and the ins and outs of being famous. Many of these discussion get quite in-depth.

The current (11/24/03) print issue of the trade magazine Video Business features the usual "Think Inc." column by Editor-In-Chief Scott Hettrick. In it Favreau explains the impact of DVDs on his filmography:
"My whole career is DVD"..."That's why I always chock my DVDs full of extras." He said he plans to put "tons of extras" on Elf, including, perhaps, an episode from Dinner for Five, featuring members of the cast of Elf.

Other episodes of Dinner for Five will be available exclusively to Netflix subscribers beginning Dec. 2...

Indeed, Netflix - an online rental service - already has a listing for Dinner For Five - Season 1, which it shows to be a 2-Disc series. Note that putting this item in your Netflix queue shows an availability date of December 16th, rather than the 2nd. Here's the cover art displayed:

There is a possibility that this will be available for retail sale in stores during the first quarter of the new year, but right now Netflix is the only source for these DVDs. Favreau gave them the exclusive because he is such a fan of the service, which the Video Business column explains in some depth. Stay tuned, and we'll try to get updates for you about this.
