We've had a number of people ask what happened to the
prevously reported July 11 release of
A Different World - Season 2. UrbanWorks has been quoted as saying that the set was delayed until
September 12. But our friend Pavan at SitcomsOnline.com
has found out that the reason for the delay is because Ventura, owners of UrbanWorks, apparently has to renegotiate with Carsey-Werner for the rights to
A Different World (and
The Cosby Show), because the previous licenses were invalidated when Ventura's ownership changed hands a while back.
So First Look, new owners of Ventura/Urbanworks, seemingly must convince Carsey- Werner to give them the license again (rather than, say, Anchor Bay), despite fan disappointment over previous
A Different World (and
Cosby Show) DVDs that fans felt were lacking in general (not to mention the fact that they were syndicated cuts of the episodes). Stay tuned and we'll let you know how this turns out!
