In 2006 and 2007, CBS DVD and Paramount Home Entertainment released the first three seasons of
Diagnosis Murder on DVD, starring Dick Van Dyke. Since then there has been no further word about the remainder of the show's 8 season run on DVD, and unfortunately we don't have news about that today. However, we do have good news for fans of the show about an upcoming DVD title related to this show!
The first appearance of Van Dyke as "Dr. Mark Sloan," in an episode of "
Jake and the Fatman, was included on the first season set. However, there were also five telefilms produced for this program: 3 pilot telefilms in 1992-93 ("Diagnosis of Murder," "The House on Sycamore Street" and "A Twist of the Knife"), then 2 post-series reunion telefilms in 2002 ("A Town Without Pity " and "Without Warning"). And none of these have been included on any DVD release so far. Now it looks like this may be changing.
We don't have too much to go on yet, but
a pre-order listing at DVDEmpire.com shows a
November 1st release for a set called "
Diagnosis Murder - The Movie Collection. Millennium Entertainment is named as the distributor behind this release, a 460-minute set which is priced at $29.98 SRP (but can be advance-purchased right away at a discount).
Unfortunately we don't have any further details about this title yet, nor any box art either. So we're passing along this early info for now, but keeping our eyes open for further developments. Stay tuned, of course, and we'll fill you in further just as soon as we can!
