Legendary, five-time Emmy Award-winner Dick Van Dyke - recognized for his iconic TV roles in 2013 with a "Lifetime Achievement Award by the Screen Actors Guild - enjoyed yet another hit series for eight seasons (1993-2001) as Dr. Mark Sloan on CBS' hour-long murder mystery, Diagnosis Murder.
On the last day of last year, we had the scoop
that Diagnosis Murder - The Complete Collection
would be coming to DVD in 2013 from Visual Entertainment Inc. (VEI). Now a pre-order listing at Amazon.ca
(the Canadian branch of the big e-tailer) shows that the title will be available, north-of-the-border, starting November 12th
. It will cost CA$188.99 SRP for a 51-DVD set, which includes all 8 seasons.
This date and price point may or may not be the same in the U.S.A.; we'll try to find out for you. We do know that this collection will include additional material besides those 8 seasons, but details on that haven't been provided by the studio just yet (although a good GUESS [and it's only a guess, mind you!] is that, at a minimum, it will PROBABLY - but NOT certainly - include the contents of the Diagnosis Murder - Television Movie Collection
VEI has previously released on DVD!). Could it also include the episode of Jake and the Fatman
which introduced Dick Van Dyke as "Dr. Mark Sloan," and which this show was spun off from? We both doubt it, but yet at the same time we hope against hope that it will be included! Time will tell, so stay tuned for that. AND stay tuned for package art, which we hope to bring you in the not-too-distant future!
