DEXTER is back, and more killer than ever. The Emmy-nominated Showtime Original Series (Best Drama Series, Lead Actor in a Drama Series) returns for an all-new season - and this time Dexter's got a new take on taking life. Having faced some of his darkest demons, Dexter's ready to put the past behind him. Back in February we
reported that Amazon.com had begun taking advance orders for
Dexter - The 3rd Season on both standard
DVD and high-def
Blu-ray Disc formats, even though the studio hadn't yet announced the title. We've had a killer wait for that formal announcement these past three months, to find out what the street date is for this title. Now we know at last!
This morning Showtime and Paramount Home Entertainment have officially informed retailers that the DVD ($42.99 SRP) and Blu-ray ($59.99 SRP) releases of
Dexter - The 3rd Season will happen on
August 18th. The DVD release comes in anamorphic widescreen video, with audio options in English 5.1, English 2.0 and Spanish mono. English and Spanish subtitles are also included. The BD version comes in high-definition widescreen video, English 5.1 Dolby TrueHD (with a Spanish audio option), and available subtitles in English. Running time is approximately 600 minutes. Extras - if any - haven't been revealed yet.
Package art isn't available yet from the studio. Amazon's pre-order listings have always shown some "temp" images that vaguely looks like they could be cover art, right down to the "Blu-ray frame" on the high-def version (see below). However, it's missing the subtitles on the package marking it as "
The 3rd Season", along with key logos and other necessary items. So we're convinced that we're still waiting on package art for these releases. Stay tuned and we'll bring you that, along with any other updates, just as soon as we can!
