World Events Productions ("WEP") has taken an attitude lately, per a company spokesman, that "the lunatics are running the asylum". In other words, the employees there at the studio who are also actual die-hard fans of WEP's animated properties have now been put in charge of getting some DVDs made. What does that mean for their biggest property,
Voltron? We'll have a separate news story about that a bit later today. In the meantime, in
our February Voltron update, we mentioned that WEP was direct-selling a DVD of
Vytor: The Starfire Champion, a 70-minute animated feature from 1989. Within the past week, WEP also
announced that they are now direct-selling
The Best of Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs - Volume 1. WEP unfortunately has no plans to make season sets of
Saber Rider, but if the first volume sells well, then they will do a second volume before they potentially lose their license to that material.
In the meantime, the great news today is for fans of
Denver, The Last Dinosaur. The lunatics, errrr, we mean the fine folk at WEP want to also get a "best of" release out for this classic series from 1988. There are roughly two dozen half-hour cartoons for this show, if we recall correctly. And, if you go to the messageboards at WEP's site, you'll see
a discussion poll requesting for fan input to choose the best episodes to include on a possible best-of release, "IF" it came to be produced:
So... IF... WEP was producing a Best of Denver DVD what episodes do you remember standing out? Just describe some of them to me and I can figure out the episode and title...
That was posted a couple of days ago, and woefully there's only a single response so far! Since the message board is mostly consisting of
Voltron fans, we hope that the
Denver fans just need to get wind of this poll, so they can sign up on the message boards and contribute! So hurry up and get your feedback in, before it's too late.
If a
Denver DVD really does come to pass, then we'll be sure to report on the details about what the contents end up being, and how to get ahold of the disc (probably another direct-sell, like
Vytor and
Saber Rider). Stay tuned, and we'll let you know!
