From 2004 to 2008, the first six seasons of
Degrassi: The Next Generation were released on DVD through Funimation, a studio whose home video efforts primarily focus on anime. In 2009 the show's DVD releases were licensed to Echo Bridge Entertainment, who went on to release
Season 7 and
Season 8. We didn't cover those two releases, and fans were frankly confused as to why we chose to overlook them. It's quite simple, actually: some time ago the studio, which also goes under the name "Platinum Disc," had asked us (for reasons which were never made clear to us) not to cover their releases at this website, so we didn't.
Now, however, a new management team is in place at Echo Bridge, and they are eager for us to share with our readers about their upcoming DVD releases. And that includes the
July 20th release of
Degrassi: The Next Generation - Season 9. Yes, that's right: a 4-disc set is on the way, at a cost of $26.98 SRP (but you can lock in your copy at a discount, using the Amazon button link below). This new collection brings you all 19 episodes of the show's most recently-aired complete season, AND a Bonus movie: "
