About a month ago we
let you know that BCI Eclipse, the folks that brought you
He-Man on DVD, had aquired the rights to the
Defenders of the Earth animated series as well. As it turns out, the
Defenders property is just one of a group of licenses that BCI acquired from Hearst Entertainment. And on
May 23rd, BCI will release a 2-DVD set containing 50 cartoons featuring classic comic characters which many of you will be very familiar with! Here is BCI's description of the
Animated All Stars package:
Now you can enjoy Saturday Morning Cartoons every day of the week with Animated All Stars. These exclusively licensed cartoons from the famous Hearst library feature 50 cartoons on 2 double-sided discs. The beloved comic strip characters Flash Gordon, Beetle Bailey, Barney Google, Defenders of the Earth, Betty Boop and Prince Valiant come straight from the newspapers and make their debut on DVD for the very first time for only $9.98 MSRP.
Only $9.98 SRP for a 2-DVD set with 50 cartoons? What a fantastic deal...we're looking forward to this! And Amazon.com is
taking preorders for just $6.99...it's hard to go wrong for that price. Here's a look at the ad that BCI has put together to promote this, and below that is a close-up look at the box art.
