Deadwood, HBO's hour-long western adventure, was nominated for 11 Emmy awards and won 2 of them, including Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series. Now those of you who didn't get in on the action can catch up this
February 8th, as the DVDs get released just in time for the premium cable channel to start airing the second season of the show.
Deadwood - The Complete 1st Season stars Timothy Olyphant, Ian McShane, Molly Parker, Jim Beaver and Brad Dourif (who jumped into the series fresh from his role as Grima Wormtongue in the
Lord of the Rings films). It takes place in 1876 in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Deadwood, SD is a lawless town inhabited by a mob of restless misfits ranging from an ex-lawman to a scheming saloon owner to the legendary Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane. And that's the scene of the richest gold strike in American history...which is where we join the story, just a couple of weeks after Custer's defeat at Little Big Horn.
