The Black Hills of South Dakota: witness the birth of an American frontier town, and the ruthless power struggle between its just and unjust pioneers. In an age of plunder and greed, the richest gold strike in American history draws a mob of restless misfits to an outlaw settlement where everything - and everyone - has a price. The settlers, ranging from an ex-lawman to a scheming saloon owner to the legendary Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane, share a constant restlessness of spirit, and survive by any means necessary. Welcome to Deadwood...a hell of a place to make your fortune. The eight-time Emmy-award winning, critically acclaimed series is coming to Blu-ray just in time for the holiday season!
Early in July we
passed along the info that Amazon had begun taking pre-orders for
Deadwood - The Complete Series on high-def Blu-ray Disc. Today HBO and distributor Warner Home Video formally announced the title, revealing the street date of
November 23rd for the first time. You'll get all 36 episodes on 13 discs. Those episodes will be presented in widescreen 1080p high-definition video, with English DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 soundtracks, along with a Spanish 2.0 audio option as well.
Bonus material apparently includes the same material seen on the DVD version of this title released a couple of years ago (that consisted of "The Meaning of Endings" featurette with David Milch, "The Real Deadwood: Out of the Ashes" featurette, a Q&A with the Cast and Creative Team from The Paley Center for Media, a "Deadwood 360" Tour and an Al Swearengen Audition Reel as performed by Titus Welliver). You can also seemingly count on the Commentary Tracks and other extras that were available on the separate season set DVD releases that HBO previously put out.
Cost is $209.98 SRP, which sounds pricey. But don't forget that you can lock in your copy of this title, in high-def Blu-ray, at a significant discount: at the time of this writing, Amazon is currently pricing it at $146.99 (subject to change without notice, at Amazon's discretion).
