Deadliest Catch -Season 6 DVD's Bonus Material Includes a 'Farewell to Captain Phil Harris'

This past month we reported that Deadliest Catch - Season 6 is coming to DVD this year, with early availability later this month at the Discovery Channel's online store and a general retail release date of November 2nd. The folks at Discovery Communications have released more information about the DVD set, including bonus material. Chief among those extras is a "Farewell to Captain Phil Harris," a tribute to the skipper of the Cornelia Marie. Harris was regularly featured on this reality show, but tragically lost his life this past February following a stroke. Another of the extras takes a look at the conditions of the Gulf Coast following the oil leak that happened earlier this year. Deadliest Catch Season 6 follows five skippers and their crews as they embark for the far northern reaches of the planet, where extreme fisherman still ply the Bering Sea. Adventure is their call, crab is their prey, and a $100 million plunder is their reward. The crews endure boat-killing storms and mind-numbing working conditions.
In this captivating DVD set, Northwestern Captain Sig Hansen, a 30-year veteran and third generation fisherman, will match skills again his old rivals, Phil Harris of the Cornelia Marie, the Hillstrand brothers of the Time Bandit and Captain Keith Colburn of the Wizard. Joining the fray is legendary Skipper Wild Bill and his crew on the F/V Kodiak.
This year, there's a fracture in the Bering Sea brotherhood. Old allies become mortal enemies when fishing turns personal. While some skippers rage against each other, another skipper fights a lone battle to stay alive. Two young deckhands are traded as an experiment in "attitude adjustment" conducted by their maniacal captains. Before the season is through, though, terrible tragedy will alter two young lives forever.
During this especially riveting season of The Deadliest Catch, viewers said farewell to Captain Phil Harris. One of the five bonus "After the Catch" episodes invites fans to reminiscence about Phil's incredible life at sea with the show's cast and crew. Other bonus episodes include the fleet's exploration of the havoc caused by the recent oil spill off the Gulf Coast, and a Cash Cab episode featuring the Deadliest Catch captains.
