Here's a followup for people looking to find The Dead Zone: Season One on DVD. I received over 50 emails about the set and I was able to come to a conclusion: finding it online is easy, finding it in stores is difficult.
Most people had success with finding the set at Tower Records stores across the country. Due to a pricing error (probably confusion with the previously released pilot disc) people were picking the season set up for a sale price of $19.99 instead of the regular price of $24.95. Unfortunately a few people emailed to tell me that they caught the pricing error and have raised the price. Others had luck with Borders, but most stores only had 1 or two copies on the shelf. One person even picked up a copy at a Barnes and Noble.
Although consumers couldn't find the set at Bust Buy (most people reported that they were given a July 1st date by employees there) I received emails from 2 Best Buy employees to tell me that they each got a a couple of copies, but employees bought them.
So, there you have it...finding the set is difficult, but not impossible. For those of you who picked up copies for $20, congrats, you got one heck of a deal! Lions Gate did an awesome job on the set and I hope everyone can find copies to add to their collection.
And for those of you who have found the set and bought it, you'll know about the Pilot episode send-away inside. The coupon says that your receipt is supposed to be dated between 6/20 and 9/20/03, but this is a misprint and they will honor sets purchased prior to 6/20.
