Here's a sad email about one man's frustrations with tracking down
The Dead Zone: Season One:
I wrote you a couple days ago to tell you that THE DEAD ZONE: SEASON ONE had been delayed. After you wrote back to tell me that Lions Gate confirmed the original release date I did some further research calling stores across the country. This is a difficult product to get.
I couldn't find it anywhere. No Best Buys will have it until July 1st and they all tell me that they use straight distribution through the product creator.
Most Circuit Citys claim they will never carry this product as it is too small a release. It wasn't even on their release info for the month. Confusing.
Barnes and Nobles say they use Alliance for distribution and they claim the company will not distribute THE DEAD ZONE: SEASON ONE so the retailers all ask if you want an online order. However, I was able to find out that other distribution companies like Baker & Taylor are distributing DZ:S1. But to who is a mystery to me.
Bottom line: If someone wants to buy this DVD set from a local or non-local retailer they better be prepared to go on a safari. I guess mom & pop shops are the answer, but after 25 phone calls I only know for sure that you can get this much desired DVD set through online retailers. Another strange fact: you usually have to wait a few days for it to even ship out from the online guys. For example, I finally ordered my copy from Amazon and they've got a 3 day wait. This makes getting the set all the more frustrating.
