Just the other day we
let you know that
Dawson's Creek - The Complete 5th Season was coming to DVD early next year, according to the folks at DawsonsCreekMusic.com website.
Since then two things have occurred, and we need to let you know about them. First of all, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment (formerly Columbia/Tristar) has released their February slate to retailers and press agents, even though the items on it cannot be revealed to the public until each title's respecitive announce date, a convention we respect here at TVShowsOnDVD. However, we don't think we're violating the rules to say that
Dawson's Creek - The Complete 5th Season is NOT on the February slate. So it will be March at the earliest. Stay tuned for that announcement, whenever it happens.
In the meantime, we have a special treat for you: the cover art for that set! Yes, even though Sony hasn't announced the title or made the cover art available to press, the folks at Amazon.com have put an ad together in the Nov. 21 issue of
Entertainment Weekly, and it features that art. We were probably going to mention that issue of the magazine in any case, because the central theme is a subject near and dear to our hearts: "The 50 Best TV Shows On DVD"! That issue is on newstands now, and we understand that it supposedly is *not* the same special issue that
Seinfeld purchasers at Best Buy stores can get next Tuesday (we previously mentioned that
here).
The Amazon ad can be found on page 51, and features a number of cover art shots. Among them is the box for
Dawson's Creek - The Complete 5th Season, which reader Chris Wills kindly scanned and sent to us. We apologize that the image is a bit soft; we did our best to sharpen it. Here it is:
Don't forget, this cover art is still subject to change right up until the time the product is manufactured and shipped. So anything can happen to that design between now and next Spring. Stay tuned, and we'll bring you final cover art from the studio at the time of (or not long after) the offical Sony announcement.
