We were pleased to get an e-mail from TVShowsOnDVD reader Keith Born the other day, who wrote to tell us:
"Last month I emailed the ELCA if they were going to release the entire Davey and Goliath series on DVD. Below is their response. Unfortunately it doesn't give any specifics as to how they will be released."
And here is what the
ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, owners of
Davey and Goliath) had to say:
Yes, we have plans to rerelease the entire series of "classic" Davey episodes in 2004. You should be hearing these details by midyear.
Thank you for your interest.
This is great news.
Davey & Goliath has been released on DVD in the past, but in 2 single-disc releases containing only 8 episodes each. Ingram Entertainment released the
first volume in January 2000, and the
second volume came out in March 2001. Both have been discontinued for a long time, and are considered somewhat collectible.
Now fans of "Daaaaaayyyyyyy-vey" will have an opportunity this coming year to get the entire series on DVD. Or possibly "start getting it", since the show actually ran for a staggering 15 years! So, can it possibly come out all at once? The answer to that is "I don't know, Davey." But animation fans should eagerly want this, as the show features such classic cartoon voice actors as Dick Beals (original "Davey") Norma MacMillan ("Davey" #2) and Hal Smith ("Goliath", "Sally Hansen", and others).
Stay tuned, and we hope to be back later this year with hard information about plans for these DVDs. Our thanks to Keith for sharing this!
