Starlight Home Entertainment Will Release The Duo's BRAND NEW Snowbound Adventures Just In Time For The HOLIDAYS!
Los Angeles, CA - The loveable Davey® and his pup pal Goliath® don scarves and mittens and head for the powder in this new addition to the Davey and Goliath series! Starlight Home Entertainment is proud to present the 2005 Telly AwardT finalist Davey and Goliath's Snowboard Christmas on DVD. Davey and Goliath originally aired on network TV from 1960-1975, with special seasonal TV airings seen throughout the years. Although officially on hiatus for 29 years, this past Christmas saw Hallmark ChannelT air the television broadcast debut of a brand new entry to the series. This special follows Davey and his trusted hound Goliath as they learn a great deal about managing slopes and diversity during the holiday season. The lovable characters and important life lessons can be enjoyed all over again with the DVD release of Davey and Goliath's Snowboard Christmas on November 15, 2005. The DVD includes a behind-the-scenes featurette and will carry a SRP of $16.99.
Davey and Goliath take to the slopes in Davey and Goliath's Snowboard Christmas, an action-packed family holiday special. During this adventure Davey meets Sam and Yasmeen, who have much better skills on the snow. Jealous of their abilities and determined to show off, Davey challenges Sam and Yasmeen to a race on a closed course. When the three children get into trouble, the children have time to talk and learn about one another. Davey learns that his new friends don't celebrate Christmas, but have holidays of their own; Sam celebrates Hanukkah and Yasmeen celebrates Ramadan. He also learns some very important lessons about the real meaning of Christmas and about understanding and respecting people who are different than he is.
Like the original series, the new special was produced by Premavision Inc. (Clokey Productions, producers of "Gumby®"). Joe Clokey, son of original producers Art and Ruth Clokey, assembled a team of production people and animators to work on this special. The team included some of those who worked on the original series, whose talents helped to preserve the classic nostalgia and appeal.
The Davey and Goliath series follows the adventures of a young boy named Davey Hansen, who, along with his trusted dog Goliath, faces some of life's moral questions and challenges. Davey often stumbles along the path of discovery, typical of most children his age. But by relying on his own value system and seeking the advice and direction of adults like his parents, teachers and others, Davey is able to navigate through each episode's moral conflicts with important lessons about his own life learned along the way.
Davey and Goliath was conceived and funded by the United Lutheran Church in America, later by the Lutheran Church in America. During the 1960s and '70s, two television series and several specials were produced by Clokey Productions, Inc. Today, Davey and Goliath is owned by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
Clokey Productions was founded by Art and Ruth Clokey who produced, the original Davey and Goliath stop-motion animated series. Stop-motion animation, a very meticulous artistic process, takes 24 still frames to make only one second of viewing time.
Over the 40+ year history, the show has received numerous awards and recognitions. The moral integrity and originality of the show has made this a viable and relevant series for all generations. Proceeds from the DVDs and any license or merchandise sold go directly back into the project, expanding the brand and creating new productions.
Davey and Goliath live on!
