As we've reported,
Davey and Goliath will see a retail DVD release on
June 7th in all the regular stores (and online sites) who want to carry it. Starlight Home Entertainment has teamed up with the ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America), owners of
Davey and Goliath, to bring a special 2-Disc Collector's Edition complete with bonus material.
But now the ELCA has also teamed up with Tommy Nelson, Inc. to produce and distribute separate DVD releases of the show, exclusively to go to Christian Bookstore Association (CBA) stores and website, and religious markets. Two releases are planned initially:
Davey and Goliath - The New Skates, planned to ship on
August 4th (that's a Thursday, but we presume the "Tuesday street date" rule of thumb won't apply to specialty market releases), and
Davey and Goliath - Lost In A Cave is planned to release at or around that timeframe (specific date not available; one website says "July 5th").
Just the sight of this little clay-mation boy and his dog will conjure up fond memories of childhood for the parents and grandparents of today. Moms and grandmoms, dads and granddads will be thrilled to find these little characters brought back to life and better than ever! Now available in crisp DVD quality, the young at heart will want to revisit these childhood favorites and share those same memories with their children! Grownups will be especially happy to find that Davey and Goliath still contain the same simple values and Biblical truths that they conveyed to children over thirty-five years ago. Children of all ages will relish in the viewing of this classic reborn.
List price for both is $12.99, and they can be ordered online from participating websites like
NelsonMinistryServices.com or
ChristianBook.com.
The New Skates will be accompanied by 3 more episodes: "Cousin Barney," "The Time Machine," and "The Mechanical Man."
Lost In A Cave will be accompanied by 3 more episodes as well: "Stranded on an Island," "The Wild Goat," and "The Winner." Our thanks to Danny Solazzi for the heads-up about these releases. Here is the cover art for both:
