Recently we posted
the "rumor" that the long-awaited DVD release of
Dark Skies - The Complete Series was on the way at last. That it wasn't coming directly from Sony, but that the studio had done the amazing job of clearing all the music on the show (something which had stymied an attempt to release it several years back). But that's all the "gossip" we were given to spread at the time. Now, more has been revealed!
Yesterday afternoon Shout! Factory DVD producer Brian Ward posted a number of tweets on Twitter, starting out "innocently" with
the comment "
Uh oh... Did this leak? (tee hee)" He continued that same tweet with a link to yesterday morning's
write-up at as site called FuriousFanBoys.com, where they mentioned the title coming to DVD from Shout!, and citing a date of January 20th. That's a Thursday, though, so we know it's incorrect as DVD releases almost always happen on Tuesdays. Ward confirmed this by finishing his first tweet with the comment "
Oh, date's a tad bit off." No corrected street date has been offered, however.
As the afternoon went on yesterday, Ward posted two other tweets on Twitter that mentioned the show. The Shout! DVD producer, who also produced yesterday's release of
Max Headroom,
commented that he was planning to go home and celebrate that release after he had been "
intensely working on the packaging & potential bonus features for DARK SKIES today" (note the use of the word *potential*...of course planned DVD extras don't always work out, because of legal issues or due to unavailability of the necessary people, among other reasons). Ward does have high hopes for this set, we see, since
his final comment of the day about it on Twitter was to tweet that "
If it all works out, DARK SKIES is going to be awesome. Can't wait!"
We also can't wait, and we know all of the show's fans among our readers can't wait either! Stay tuned for updates about this highly anticipated release.
