Yesterday the folks at DVDEmpire.com added a pre-release listing for
Dark Shadows -The Beginning: Episodes 1 - 35, indicating that a retail release of these pre-Barnabas episodes might be on-the-way from MPI Home Video. As you probably recall,
the original plan was to release these exclusively online via MPI and their DarkShadowsDVD.com website.
Now it looks like that may not be necessary, for those who prefer to make a different choice. DVDEmpire is showing an
August 28th release date, with a $59.98 SRP ( but their current pre-sell price is $45.34). They list it as a 4-DVD package running 890 minutes. No cover art or other details are available there yet, but stay tuned and we'll let you know about any further developments!
UPDATE: Amazon.com is also found to have
a pre-order listing for this item! The details all match what DVDEmpire is showing, but Amazon has it for a bit less, at $41.99 if you order now. Thanks to "Randy" for letting me know.
