First Soap Opera Ever On DVD!

CHICAGO, IL – Dark Shadows, ABC's most-popular daytime drama from 1966-1971 debuts on DVD May 28th, 2002. It's the first time a soap opera has ever been released on DVD. The new Dark Shadows DVD Collector's Boxed Set includes 40 episodes and never-before-seen interviews with actors from the show.

In addition to being first on DVD, Dark Shadows is the only soap opera to inspire two movies and two novels. It is also the only daytime drama to ever be re-aired after more than 30 years, acquiring a completely new younger audience with its current showing on the Sci-Fi Channel.

Comparable to Star Trek, the show maintains a massive fanatical following fueled by annual festivals, hundreds of fan clubs, thousands of Websites and a vast array of merchandise. Like the show's character, 175-year old vampire Barnabas Collins, Dark Shadows is a cult phenomenon that refuses to die.

Customers can pre-order the new Dark Shadows DVD Collection by calling 1-800-777-2223 or visiting www.mpihomevideo.com.  $59.98.
