We've had a couple of readers send in notes the past couple of days, asking a natural question about the street date of
Dallas - The Complete 3rd Season. Our first note was from regular reader Aryn Leroux:
Hi Guys,
I was wondering if you have heard of a street date change/delay for Dallas S3. I have the set pre-ordered and today I noticed Amazon has changed the street date from 8/9 to 9/8 which is strange since that is a Thursday. Anyways just thought I would bring it to your attention. Hopefully Amazon goofed and it's still coming in August.
...And "J" writes:
Why are you guys saying its coming out in like a week, and Amazon is saying it's coming in September? Who do I beleive???
Believe
Warner, J! I've just double-checked Warner Home Video's password-protected information system, and it still shows
August 9th as the street date for this 5-DVD set. Amazon's Canadian branch, Amazon.ca, still shows the 8/9 date, as do other of our online retailer partners such as DVDPlanet and DVDEmpire.
Aryn's right on, in that Amazon (US branch, in any case) seems to have goofed, transposing the digits from "8/9" (correct date) to "9/8" (wrong date). I wouldn't worry about it; more than likely the set will still be delivered on time, even from Amazon. Still, it might not hurt for customers who've pre-ordered this from Amazon to contact the e-tailer and let them know about the issue.
This is certainly the set to get, too! It starts with the kidnapping of J.R.'s baby boy John Ross, and ends with the legendary episode where J.R. gets shot. Extras include commentary tracks on two key episodes, including the season finale "A House Divided", by Patrick "Bobby Ewing" Duffy and Linda "Sue Ellen Ewing" Gray, plus a featurette called "Who Shot J.R.?: The
Dallas Phenomenon".
Thanks to our readers for writing in and asking about this. We wanted to address it before too many more of you saw the change and got confused. Again, that release date remains
August 9th, as far as we can tell. That's just a week from this coming Tuesday...I can't wait!
UPDATE:
Hey, how about a look at an advertisement that will be running in magazines soon to promote this release? It's a very clever ad, and if you look you can see that it sports the August 9th release date near the handle of the gun:
