If the end of the 8th season had your jaw hitting the floor, then you won't want to waste any time...and neither does the studio! Following up on that last release just a bit over a month ago, Warner Home Video has just announced a July 15th debut for Dallas - The Complete 9th Season on DVD. The early info shows that 31 hour-long episodes will come on 4 double-sided "DVD-18" discs (even though previous seasons, sporting a similar number of episodes, came on five discs).
Barbara Bel Geddes returns this season as "Miss Ellie," but two other major cast members are out as the season starts off with a funeral. But that's deceptive-sounding, as longtime fans know! We don't want to spoil anything for new fans, though.
Ted Shackelford guest stars as "Gary Ewing" in the season opener. Dack Rambo and Jenilee Harrison, who both showed up in the middle of the previous season as a pair of Ewing cousins (children of Jock's brother Jason), return again for the new season. More guest stars, some recurring, include Lou Diamond Phillips, Paul Sorensen, Bibi Besch, Barbara Carrera, Sam Melville, Marc Singer, Robert Pine, and more. The season ends with one of the single most-talked-about scenes in television history!
Besides all of that prime, soapy fun, Warner will also be including a bonus Featurette as an extra: "Seasons of Change," which looks at the impact of the surprise scene discussed above and how it affects this season, and other seasons and storylines, in Dallas. It takes a look at the departure and return of Barbara Bel Geddes as the matriarch of the Ewing clan. Video will be full frame 1.33.1, and audio will be English Mono with English subtitles. Pricing is $39.98 SRP for 1550 minutes running time.
