J.R. has always been a hound dog with the ladies and in Season 12 it all comes back to bite him. A dalliance with an Arkansas cutie leads J.R. to the wrong end of a shotgun, 10 years of hard labor, a prison break and the altar. And that's just the start of 26 episodes of commotion and emotion that also include a tell-all movie (bankrolled by the first Mrs. J.R. Ewing) that threatens to unveil every low-down trick J.R. ever pulled and a rival oil man scheming to destroy the Ewing empire, taking the clan from Southfork all the way to Austria and Russia!
With a long wait since last April's release of the 11th year of the show (out of fourteen produced), fans have been anxiously awaiting the next season set. Relax, J.R.'s evil schemes can't keep these off the market: this morning Warner Home Video has announced
Dallas - The Complete 12th Season on DVD, coming to stores on
January 19th.This will be a 3-disc set with double-sided "DVD-18's," running 1378 minutes for 26 episodes. Video is full frame, and audio is English mono. Cost is $39.98 SRP, and package art can be found below.
Generally speaking, Warner releases two
Dallas sets a year, with one in the first couple of months and the second in the Spring/Summer months (the only exception to this has been the very first release, really). With that in mind, following this newly-announced 12th Season set we should next see Season 13 a bit later in 2010, then Season 14 in early 2011, then the studio will likely finish it off later in 2011 with "The Movies" (the various telefilms) as the final DVD set. Right now this is just speculation, with no input from the studio, except that Warner has stated that they are committed to finishing
Dallas on DVD, so there should be no concerns...just a bit of patience.
As for other primetime soaps from the Lorimar library, Warner hasn't said anything yet about more
Knots Landing releases, or any
Falcon Crest at all in North America (even though it is
being released in some parts of Europe). Nor
Flamingo Road, either. Many anxious fans are continuously asking us for updates on each of those, so this should serve as notice that "we don't know nothin'...honestly!" If we find out anything, anything at all, then we WILL post news on the front page of the site...we promise! Okay?
Patrick Duffy fans, of course, may also be interested in today's news about
The Man from Atlantis, which he did prior to doing
Dallas (Duffy's seen on the box cover of that, of course, since he's the star of the show). Speaking of boxes, here's that
