Meet Willy Zilla, a 12 year old kid who just wants to lead
a quiet, normal existence...
Unfortunately that's pretty much out of the question when your Dad happens to be a billionaire Rock Star! So when the legendary Rock Zilla suddenly decides to go into semi-retirement, and moves the family to a house in the suburbs, Willy thinks all his dreams have come true. But he soon learns that when hotel rooms and tour buses are the only home you've ever known, living in a small town can present a whole lot of unexpected challenges!
The new "Teletoon Presents" brand, which was announced a month ago (please read the
story at ToonZon.NET), is scheduling their first DVD in the
My Dad the Rock Star lineup for release on
April 5th. The cartoon has been available in Canada for a year and a half, and earlier this year started airing in the USA on Nickelodeon. Its Creator and Exec Producer is none other than legendary "KISS" rocker Gene Simmons!
The first DVD will have these 3 episodes from the first season: "Welcome to Silent Springs" (#1), "Mr. Zilla's Opus" (#3), and "High Infidelity" (#4). Additional details, such as price, are yet to be announced.
More DVDs are tentatively planned for later in the year. The 2nd Volume, subtitled
Vote For Willy, is pencilled in for July 19. It will have "The Candidate" (#6), "Dance Party" (#8), and "Psychic Convention" (#9). The 3rd volume is being looked at for the first of November, and is likely to be called
Willy Unplugged. If plans work out, it will have these episodes: "Willy Unplugged" (#7), "Angela D'Angelo" (#5), and "Going for Broke" (#12).
Stay tuned, and we'll have more on all three releases, including cover art, just as soon as we can bring them to you.
Update - FUNimation, the US company handling the series has told us that they haven't set a US release date yet, and the April date is for
Canada only.
