BCI/International Voyage and FremantleMedia have sent out the formal press release for the
September 4th release of
The IT Crowd - Version 1.0: The Complete 1st Season, which we began
reporting about over a week ago.
It's mentioned in the press release, but we wanted to draw your attention to BCI's contest: Do you work in an IT Department? Do you work in an office that has an interesting group in their IT Department? Then take a picture of that group, or that special techie someone in that group, and
e-mail it to InfoTechCrowd@yahoo.com along with a short description about the geeky guy, gal or gang and all that they do. The best entry each week will be
posted on their IT Crowd blog, and at the end of the contest all the best submissions will actually make it onto the next DVD release as a photo gallery! Submissions will be accepted until the Season 1 DVD release on Sept. 4th, and you can get full details at the blog link mentioned a moment ago.

Los Angeles, CA (June 27, 2007) – "Have you tried turning it off and on again?" And so begins another confrontation with tech support. Graham Linehan ("Father Ted") and Ash Atalla (BBC's "The Office") turn their satiric skills to the world of the techies – the geeks who keep a business going, as their own lives are going nowhere – in "The IT Crowd," produced by talkbackTHAMES, the UK production company owned by FremantleMedia.
On September 4th, BCI, a Navarre Corporation Company, and FremantleMedia Enterprises, the commercial division of FremantleMedia, will release the complete first season of this BAFTA-nominated comedy on DVD under the International Voyage brand for an SRP of $24.98. The announcement was made by Marvin Gleicher, Senior VP, Content and Marketing, BCI.
"Everyone has had dealings with tech support at some point in their lives" Gleicher remarked. "The IT Crowd" reveals these computer nerds to be unintentionally and unexpectedly hilarious – once again America benefits from a British support team of wit and satire."
Reynholm Industries. Known for its high-rise towers, and its employees who aim to rise high. While the top stories are populated with the go-getters and successes, the basement holds stories of a different kind – the stories of Jen, Roy and Moss. They are "The IT Crowd": scorned by their colleagues, they are the nerds; the geeks obsessed with their computers, working in the basement of the company, yet content with their banishment. Which makes them, if possible, even geekier, and their circumstances even funnier!
Jen, Roy and Moss are the willing prisioners of their world of PCs, platforms and processors. "The IT Crowd" takes a look at their techie mecca that rings true with every laugh and is anything but 'cursor'-y!
"The IT Crowd" reboots the following special features:
- Deleted Scenes
- Out-Takes
- "Behind The IT Crowd" documentary
- "Hello Friend" film
- 2 sets of audio-commentaries for all episodes (1-6)
- Commentary One – Writer/Director Graham Lineham
- Commentary Two – Writer/Director Graham Lineham and actors Chris O'Dowd (Roy) and Katherine Parkinson (Jen)
- "Geek" sub-titles (there are Geek subtitles for all 6 episodes. These are subtitles written in computer language; five are general/universal computer language and one is a bespoke computer language invented by the IT consultants on the production)
- Cast and crew credit pages
This release will be supported with a national television and print campaign, targeted advertising and internet exposure including viral video, TV blogs, fan sites, giveaways and an online contest where fans can submit photos of their own 'IT Crowd'.
