I (Gord) am in Las Vegas this week at the VSDA (Video Software Dealer's Association) event. Last night I attended an A&E party where Criss Angel was the special guest. He has a new show on A&E called
Criss Angel Mindfreak, a half hour show featuring his magic airing Wednesday nights at 10. The show is just two episodes into the season, but A&E has already announced plans to release the first season in late October, or early November. I spoke with Criss, and he has a
lot of ideas for bonus materials. This could be the best set A&E has released in terms of bonus features.
I watched the premiere episodes of the show last week, and they were both very cool, but Criss Angel rocks in person. He's extremely nice, and spent about 2 hours doing various magic tricks at the party. He bent forks (obtained from the bar), guessed people's addresses and numbers they had in their heads, and swallowed thread, only to pull it back out through his eye (I have photos!). People were still talking about him 2 hours after he left. It's one thing to watch magic on TV when you can say "Oh, he knows that person and it's set up," but it's completely different when you know the people in the room involved in the magic. He
Mindfreaked quite a few people last night.
We're going to keep a close eye on this release; it should be a pretty awesome set. I have photos from the event, but unfortunately I can't connect the camera to the computer right now, so it will have to be done when I get back home.
