A few days ago we brought you
an update about First Look's DVD release of
The Cosby Show - 25th Anniversary Commemorative Edition, which compiles all 8 seasons of the show into one package. That comes out on
November 11th, and fans are anxious to know a lot about it. The most-asked question is whether or not this release would correct the previous releases, notably Season 1, which contained syndication-cut episodes instead of the original uncut network broadcast versions. Fans were also pleased to see info about a brand-new Bill Cosby interview, but wondered whether this was the only new extra included on this release. We've got some answers now about both!
An industry source has anonymously sent us a (fuzzy) scan of a sales sheet that First Look sent to retailers about this package. You can see that at the bottom (sorry; it looks as good as we received it). While we hesitated to take the previous studio wording ("
...the new collection brings together every original network episode for its legendary eight-year run.") to indicate that this necessarily meant "uncut," the new wording on this sales sheet can't really be taken any other way:
Every episode - original, uncut broadcast versions - from all 8 seasons in one collectible set!
The sales sheet also has more info about the bonus material on this release. Among the Special Features it describes in the lower right corner are the already-mentioned Exclusive All-New Bill Cosby Interview, plus a Digital Photo Gallery, the Pilot Episode's Script, a Select Discography of the Music of The Cosby Show, "and much more!"
On the other hand, the sales sheet doesn't inform us about whether the extras included on the individual Season 1 and Season 2 releases will be included as well. Among those extras were Deleted Scenes, Bloopers, Audition Footage, Cast Member Retrospectives, an Interview and Audio Commentary with Director Jay Sandrich, "Cliff's Parenting Tips" and other material. This was when those releases came out via UrbanWorks, before that company was absorbed into First Look. Right now we can't be certain that these supplements will be part of the new release, so be careful of selling off your old copies just yet.
Amazon has updated their pre-order listing to show a larger look at the cover art we previously brought you a thumbnail version of. We've got a look at that for you below, followed by the scan of the sales sheet. On that sheet, you'll see a different look at the box art, possibly showing off other sides of the package from another angle. It looks like each side will feature a slightly altered graphic, with different pictures of Cosby-as-Cliff. Check it out:
