Popular comedian Brent Butt returns to small town Saskatchewan to portray the life he would have led had he gotten a real job - pumping gas at Corner Gas. Each episode of Corner Gas delivers a half-hour of comedic voyeurism in a place where everyone knows everyone else's business. The series is set in the fictional town of Dog River Saskatchewan, and focuses on the life (or lack thereof) of gas station owner Brent LeRoy, coffee shop proprietor Lacey Burrows and the folks who populate the area. Dog River is a nice town, but far from the quaint and idyllic little burgs we're used to seeing on TV. It isn't Pleasantville and it's definitely not Mayberry. It's a little town with a definite edge where not much happens and people like it that way. But invariably, when things do change, just a little, all hell breaks loose.
Video Service Corp is set to release the entire first season of the hit Canadian show
Corner Gas. Averaging over 1.1 million viewers a week on CTV, the show also brings in another 150,000 viewers on the Comedy Network weekend broadcasts. While that sounds small for American shows, it's a big hit in Canada.
The 2 disc set will contain all 13 episodes, commentary on at least one episode, DVD-ROM content, interviews, deleted scenes and a preview of the second season. The price and release date haven't been finalized, but we've been told to expect it in late-September or early October.
We'll keep you updated with more information when it becomes available, and if you'd like more information on the show you can drop by the official website,
