When Law & Order: Special Victims Unit first hit the air in 1999, the character of "Asst. District Attorney Alexandra Cabot" wasn't on board yet, but when Stephanie March's role was added to the show in 2000, fans certainly took a liking to her! So it was with a great sense of loss that she left the show early in the fifth season. After a one-episode return in the middle of the sixth season, Dick Wolf decided to spin her off this year into her very own show, Conviction. In the new series, which isn't officially branded as a Law & Order series, Alex Cabot is the Bureau Chief over a group of young ADAs.
Alas, the new series never reached the popularity heights of SVU. Tonight NBC airs the final two episodes (a two-parter) back-to-back, just days after announcing that the show was canceled. But the folks at NBC-Universal aren't letting the show languish, either. This morning Universal has announced that August 22nd will see the DVD release of Conviction - The Complete Series. This 3-disc set will have all 13 episodes (including the pilot) running for $59.98 SRP.
The studio hasn't provide box art, extras or any other details quite yet, but stay tuned and we'll bring them to you just as soon as we can!
