Comanche Moon (mini-series) - Larry McMurtry's Final Lonesome Dove Mini-Series To Get Extended DVDs

2-Disc Set Planned For Late February Release

Posted by Staff
Next week, on January 13th, 15th and 16th, CBS will air Comanche Moon: The Road to Lonesome Dove, a new mini-series by Larry McMurtry and which is supposed to be the final effort in the "Lonesome Dove" saga (but keep in mind that this story takes place before the events of Lonesome Dove). The six-hour production stars Val Kilmer (Top Gun, Tombstone), Steve Zahn (Employee of the Month, Daddy Day Care), Rachel Griffiths (Brothers & Sisters, Six Feet Under), Linda Cardellini (ER, Freaks & Geeks), Karl Urban (The Lord of the Rings trilogy, "Dr. McCoy" for the upcoming Star Trek film) and Elizabeth Banks (Scrubs, Spider-Man trilogy).

Then, on February 26th, Sony will release a 2-DVD set of Comanche Moon: The Road to Lonesome Dove - Extended Edition, featuring footage only available on these DVDs. In addition to that main feature, which runs 284 minutes, there will be 3 bonus featurettes included as extras: a "making-of" documentary, a behind-the-scenes featurette, and one about "Comanche Heritage." The production will be presented in Widescreen with English Dolby 5.1 audio, and English and French subtitles. Cost will be $29.95 SRP. Here is the studio description for this release, and finalized artwork:
Prequel to the popular Lonesome Dove and the sequel to Dead Man’s Walk!

Comanche Moon follows Augustus McCrae and Woodrow F. Call as they continue their adventures as rugged Texas Rangers and deal with the ever-increasing tensions of adult life - Gus with his great love, Clara Forsythe, and Call with Maggie Tilton, the young prostitute who loves him.

Based on novel and written by Larry McMurtry (Brokeback Mountain, “Lonesome Dove”, The Last Picture Show), the cast are Val Kilmer, Steve Zahn, Rachel Griffiths, Linda Cardellini, Karl Urban, Wes Studi, and Ryan Merriman.
