Having finished with the series in their last DVD release, Universal has turned their attention to the "Mystery Movie" run of
Columbo. The first release, "Mystery Movie Collection 1989," will be released on
April 24, the date we posted about a
few weeks ago. The 3 disc set (all single-sided) will include the five movies that aired in 1989, totaling 347 mins. The movies are:
- Columbo Goes to the Guillotine
- Murder, Smoke and Shadows
- Sex and the Married Detective
- Grand Deceptions
- Murder: A Self Portrait
The suggested retail price for the set is $26.98. Episodes will be presented in Full frame (1.33:1), and include English mono audio tracks.
We assume they'll release a similar set for the 1990 movies (6 movies), but it's unclear what they'll do after that. There were 13 movies released between 1991 and 2003; maybe a set that includes 91/92 (5 movies), then 93-95 (4 movies) and 97-2003 (4 movies). That probably makes the most sense.
