At last, fans of Craig T. Nelson's
Coach can do the wave and have lots to cheer about! Universal is bringing the classic 1989 ABC sitcom to DVD on
June 13th. Besides Nelson as "Coach Hayden Fox," the cast includes Shelley Fabares as his wife "Christine," Jerry Van Dyke (yes, Dick's brother) in a great role as "Assistant Coach Luther Horatio Van Dam," and Bill Fagerbakke in the memorable role of "Dauber" (here's a bit of trivia for you: one of Fagerbakke's more recent roles is the voice of "Patrick" the starfish on
Spongebob Squarepants; bet many of you didn't know that!).
There were only 13 half-hour episodes in the short rookie year for this show, but Universal is making the most of them! Expect these episodes in a 2-DVD (single sided!) set that will be available two different ways:
Coach - The 1st Season for $39.98 SRP, and also a
Coach - The 1st Season: Limited Edition that is also shown in Universal's early info as $39.98 SRP. As we said, this is early info, and we hope to clear up the differences for you pretty quickly, but right now we can only speculate that the "Limited Edition" version is a special run of an initial quantity that comes in premium packaging, possibly with something extra in the package. That's just guessing, though, so please don't take it to heart. We'll have more details on that just as quickly as we can get them!
