Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced a 3-DVD release of Coach - The 3rd Season. This 22-episode package, running 474 minutes, is due to take the field on February 19th. Guest stars this season include Tom Poston, K Callan, Dick Martin, and Rob Schneider. Cost is just $26.98 SRP. Video is in the original full-frame, audio is English Dolby Digital 2.0, and English subtitles are present.
According to the info from Universal this morning, the package includes "Coach: The One-Hour Special" as an extra. Fans will surely be glad to get this, but will certainly be confused as to why it's included here. Why confused? Because the special is from after the end of the 6th Season of the show, and is essentially a clip show featuring the best scenes from all six seasons up until that point. It's done in the format of Mary Hart (from Entertainment Tonight interviewing Coach Hayden Fox in a double-length episode.
So we're fairly sure many fans WON'T want to watch this special right away if it is included as part of Season 3: they'll prefer to wait on seeing those scenes until seasons four, five and six make it to DVD. We're going to get in touch with Universal and try to find out exactly what's going on with this, so stay tuned for any updates on that, and for cover art as well.
