The other day we brought you news that the first season of
The Closer was coming out on DVD
May 23, and yesterday Warner Bros released some more information on the set.
An offbeat personality, a tough-as-nails approach and a track record as one of the country's leading investigators--these are just a few of the traits exhibited by television's next great detective, Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson, played by three-time Golden Globe Award nominee Kyra Sedgwick in "The Closer." In her first lead role in a dramatic series, Sedgwick plays a tough CIA-trained detective, with Southern charm, who has been brought from Atlanta to Los Angeles to head up the Priority Murder Squad, a special unit of the LAPD that handles sensitive, high-profile murder cases. "The Closer" is executive produced by the team behind "Nip/Tuck."
The show will be presented in
Anamorphic (this information was incorrect; it's non-anamorphic) Widescreen (1.78:1), but the audio format hasn't been announced, and the set will have subtitles in French and Spanish. Something of note here; the set will be packaged in "Super Slim Double Cases" (2 discs in a case that's half the size of a "regular" case). We thought this was the first time that Warner Bros has announced the use of those cases (which everyone else uses now), but that honor goes to the third season of
The Waltons.
Here's the disc configuration of the set:
Disc 1:
- Pilot
- About Face
- The Big Picture
Disc 2:
- Show Yourself
- Flashpoint
- Fantasy Date
- You Are Here
Disc 3
- Batter Up
- Good Housekeeping
- The Butler Did It
Disc 4
- L.A. Woman
- Fatal Retraction
- Standards and Practices
There will be 22 minutes of deleted scenes, the only extra on the set. The suggested price is $39.98.
