It's been a while since we've seen a new release for
Clifford the Big Red Dog on DVD! The show, starring the voice of the late John Ritter (
Three's Company, 8 Simple Rules), has most recently had a number of already-on-DVD episodes
re-released on June 5th in kid-friendly packaging. That packaging, called the "kidcase" by Lionsgate and also supported by other studios such as Fox in their "Follow Along" series and by Well Go's
Hi-5 releases, features a cut-out area near the top to form a handle for smaller DVD consumers to tote them easier. Trade magazine
Video Business had
a story about the packaging this past August, saying it originated in Australia.
So
Clifford has 4 DVDs available in this kind of case, and will get 2 more on
January 8th. One is another re-release to tie-in with Valentine's Day, but the other one seems to have all-new (to DVD) episodes!
Clifford the Big Red Dog - Playtime with Clifford will come with 10 episodes running 110 minutes, plus a "Speckle Stories" Featurette and the "Real-Life Doggy Friends" segments. Cost will be $14.98. Here's the studio description, including the episode names, plus a look at the box:
Join Clifford for some Big-time fun, as he learns how much fun spending time with friends can be! These amazing adventures will have you sitting up and begging for more! Episodes include: TUMMY TROUBLE, CLEO GETS A CONE, TIE-DYED CLIFFORD, TEAM SPIRIT, FOLLOW THE LEADER, TOPSY TURVEY DAY, THAT'S SNOW LIE, LED ASTRAY, STARS IN YOUR EYES, FAIR WEATHER FRIEND
