Industry sources are telling us that last September's
"Television Favorites" release of Cheyenne (featuring 3 episodes of the hour-long drama) did well enough to warrant a full season set release. Fans should keep an eye peeled for boxes of the Clint Walker mid-'50s series somewhere in the middle of 2006. We'll have further details when the studio makes it official, so stay tuned. Thanks to a reader named "Jeff" (he's not "in the business") for his assistance with this story!
This is good to know! Yesterday we relayed news from our friends at Sitcoms Online about "Television Favorites" releases for
Perfect Strangers, Alice, The Drew Carey Show, Night Court, Welcome Back Kotter, Family Matters and
Step By Step. We saw a lot of negative feedback from fans of these shows, saying how upset with Warner they were for not going with season sets right this second. They frankly don't believe us when we say that bad sales of these "TV Faves" discs will show a lack of support for these series, and that good sales will encourage the studio to release season sets. Warner may have somewhat of a "PR problem" in this regard, we do see that. But fans can look toward examples like
Cheyenne and see that it is Warner's intention to do the right thing. Kudos to the studio for that!
