Cheers - Last Call: Sam Locks Up in Cheers - The Final Season on DVD

11th Season set gives us 'One More For the Road' on January 27th

Posted by David Lambert
Sam "Mayday" Malone (Ted Danson) is back for the 11th and last season of the classic sitcom, along with Carla (Rhea Perlman), Woody (Woody Harrelson), Rebecca (Kirstie Alley), Norm (George Wendt), Cliff (John Ratzenberger), Paul ( Paul Willson) and Frasier (Kelsey Grammer). CBS DVD and Paramount Home Entertainment have announced that Cheers - The Final Season will arrive on DVD this January 27th. The 653-minute collection will include all 25 episodes, including the double-length episode "Rebecca Gaines, Rebecca Loses" and the triple-length series finale, "One For The Road."

The 11th and last season will include appearances, large and small (some VERY small), by Jackie Swanson, Keene Curtis, John Mahoney, Ethel Kennedy, Dana Delany, Peter MacNicol, Peri Gilpin, Spanky McFarland, Brandon Tartikoff, Tom Berenger, Sharon Lawrence, Kim Alexis, Anthony Heald, Mike Ditka, Rick Berman and Cheers co-creator James Burrows. Also look for final series appearances by classic Cheers alumni: Roger Rees as "Robin Colcord," Dan Hedaya as "Nick Tortelli," Jean Kasem as "Loretta Tortelli," Leah Remini as "Serafina Tortelli," Harry Anderson as "Harry 'The Hat' Gittes," Frances Sternhagen as "Esther Clavin," Bebe Neuwirth as "Dr. Lilith Sternin-Crane" and - yes - Shelley Long as "Diane Chambers."

No word has come in yet about whether the "Last Call! A Cheers Celebration" special, which aired on NBC just prior to the final episode, will be included in this release. Nor has there been word, so far, of any other potential bonus material for this package, nor have we received box art or pricing just yet. But stay tuned, and we'll update you as we learn more about it!
