Just a couple of weeks ago, Warner Home Video released the
Peanuts: 1960's Collection, a 2-DVD set with all six televised Charlie Brown speicals from that decade. What's next along these lines? The studio hasn't officially said, but one of our eagle-eyed readers has spotted evidence that next up will be the
Peanuts: 1970's Collection, Volume 1 2-DVD set.
We appreciate the heads-up from reader Leo Ames, who pointed us to a
an online trailer at the GetBack.com website. GetBack is a sister company of Shout! Factory, but Shout! wouldn't be behind this release, it would still be Warner. GetBack, however, was created as a nostalgia themed place for fans of classic material from that era to get together and talk about it, and view media about it. So it makes sense for the trailer to be there.
However, as far as we've been able to see, this trailer for the
1970's Collection, Volume 1 doesn't seem to be located on the
1960's Collection set, or any other related releases that Warner has shipped recently. Nor has the studio announced it, so we don't have a release date for you. But the info on the trailer shows that the included specials would be:
- Play It Again, Charlie Brown (1971)
- You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown (1972)
- There's No Time for Love, Charlie Brown (1973)
- A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving (1973)
- It's a Mystery, Charlie Brown 1974)
- It's the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown (1974)
All six specials, including the "rare" ones, will be receiving Warner's remastering treatment, making them look the best they have in ages. In addition, the trailer shows that there will be a bonus Featurette titled "That Little Yellow Bird: The Story of Woodstock". Here's a screen capture from the trailer, showing off the package art (at least as it stands for now; these things are always subject to change by the time the studio makes a formal announcement). Stay tuned for updates!
