In 1975 - ten years after
A Charlie Brown Christmas, the first Charlie Brown/Peanuts TV special, originally aired - the folks at CBS aired two more specials: the 13th and 14th in a long line of classic installments. The early '75 installment was the holiday special
Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown. But in October of that year we were introduced to one of the most popular non-holiday specials made for the Charlie Brown/Peanuts series:
You're a Good Sport, Charlie Brown.
The story finds Charlie Brown, the famous sports failure, competing against Peppermint Patty and the Masked Marvel (alias Snoopy) in a charity motocross race.
This morning Warner Home Video has announced that
You're a Good Sport, Charlie Brown: Remastered Deluxe Edition will come to DVD for the very first time on
January 27th. It will be presented in the original full frame video, with English audio and with an option for English subtitles. The disc will also come with a bonus called "Dust Yourself Off and Pick Yourself Up, Charlie Brown". The list price will be $19.98 SRP. Stay tuned for package art, and any further details we find out!
UPDATE: Warner has now sent us an update for this release. Besides the 25-minute main feature, they've informed us that the 1979 CBS special,
You're the Greatest, Charlie Brown, will also be included on this DVD. That production was nominated for the "Outstanding Animated Program" Emmy Award for that year, and is another sports-themed story with Charlie Brown entering the Decathlon event of the Junior Olympics. The "Dust Yourself Off and Pick Yourself Up, Charlie Brown" bonus will be a making-of featurette focused on
You're a Good Sport, Charlie Brown. Here's an early look at the package art that this disc will come in:
